The Venice High School Alumni Swim Meet is a fun and spirited event where alumni from the Swim Team, Dive Team, and Water Polo Team return to compete against the current Venice High School Swim Team at Venice Pool.
The meet follows a relaxed, modified Order of Events featuring mostly 25- and 50-yard races, with occasional 100-yard events, plus a few themed or silly races for fun. One of the crowd favorites is the Big Float Race, which brings everyone into the pool—competitive or not.
The meet ends with a Diving Portion that often includes long-running traditions like the Belly Flop Contest and the "Splash the Lifeguard" challenge. Participants are encouraged to get creative, and prizes are awarded for standout dives based on style, execution, and originality.
It’s open to all Venice Aquatics alumni, current swimmers, friends, and family. Whether you’re racing, diving, floating, or cheering from the deck, it’s a celebration of community, connection, and Venice pride.
Every penny donated over the required Pool Permit Fee amount goes to The Alumni Swim Team Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to 1 or 2 Venice High School Swim Team Seniors who have shown great leadership in their four years on the team. This award was created in 2016, and has been given out nearly every year since (except for 2020, 2021 & 2025).
Before the start of the new school year, the Venice HS Alumni Swim Team hosts a Beach Bonfire event to celebrate the end of the summer. The event is open to all members of the Venice HS Aquatics Family (Swim, Dive, Polo) both alumni & current swimmers, their friends and families.
The Annual Beach Bonfire is every second Sunday of August at Dockweiler State Beach.
